L.E.K. Supports Cancer Research UK with 10k Charity Run and Silent Auction

L.E.K. volunteers at the Fullers’ London Pride 10k as part of our corporate community service program.

On a beautiful summer’s day, a gang of sporty and motivated L.E.K.ers assembled in Chiswick to take part in the annual Fullers’ London Pride 10k in aid of Cancer Research UK.

Over the next gruelling hour or so, our brave heroes ran, walked, hopped, skipped and jumped the 10km course along the banks of the Thames. Our runners raised both sponsorship for the race itself (of some £850), and they also raised their pints at the end in promise of a follow-up next year.

In addition to this, the community service committee organised an office-wide silent auction a month before the run, in which colleagues could donate some items or some of their time.  Examples included photography lessons, breakfast delivered to your desk, British Airway miles, a wine-tasting class, and a month’s supply of chocolate brownies.

This silent auction raised £2,500, a sum which was combined with the 10k runners’ donations for Cancer Research UK.  Following the race, L.E.K. was given an award for being the top corporate fund-raiser for the London Pride 10K, an achievement of which we are immensely proud.

A very big thank you to everybody who participated and made L.E.K.’s  involvement such a success, and we look forward to welcoming some new energetic participants next year as we continue our drive to tap into the enthusiasm of L.E.K. employees to give back to the community.
