Welcome to Our 2013 Consulting Staff

L.E.K. America’s Region is pleased to welcome our new 2013 consulting staff. In all, 105 undergraduates, MBAs, and PhDs joined our 5 U.S. offices in July and September. Peter McKelvey, President of The Americas, said, “We are thrilled to have such a talented and diverse group joining our team.”

Challenging the Creativity of L.E.K.'s Leadership Team

Every year, the Partners, Principals and Managers from L.E.K. converge from offices around the world for a 3-day conference to address the firm’s strategy for development, discuss new initiatives and opportunities, and celebrate its successes.  It’s a fun and engaging event that forges and strengthens relationships between individuals, offices, and regions, and is a core part of L.E.K.’s ‘one firm’ ethos. Read on to watch a video of our most recent team-building competition.

What's Underneath Decks?

“I never thought I would learn so much about decking in my life.” This is the first thought that comes into my mind when I reflect back on the past three weeks of my first L.E.K. case. On my second day as a new associate, I was staffed on a private equity due diligence case about building materials.

My Summer Consultant Internship at L.E.K. New York

As my internship as a Summer Consultant at L.E.K. Consulting’s New York City office draws to a close, I’m able to reflect on all that I’ve learned during what has been a fun and fast-paced summer internship experience. Learn more by reading my blog post.

My Summer Consulting Internship as an Undergrad

I’m an associate in L.E.K. Consulting’s Boston office, and started in September 2012 after participating in the L.E.K. summer associate internship program during my junior summer at Boston College. Looking for internships my junior year, I was (as I’m sure many of you are) unsure about which career path to take. I thought consulting might be an interesting field, and was brought to the L.E.K. school information session by a friend and (now fellow) co-worker. The more I researched L.E.K. and learned about the firm’s professional and personal opportunities, the more I thought it would be a great place to start my career and grow as a professional. I’m happy to say I was right!

From Intern to Associate: My Experience at L.E.K. Melbourne

I can still remember, with perfect clarity, the nervous ride up the lift to the L.E.K. Melbourne office for my first round Summer Associate interview in August 2011. A third year Commerce student, I was nonetheless new to the world of management consulting. Consulting had been suggested to me as a career that I might be well suited to, and L.E.K. was recommended as a great firm to look into. A little research indicated that consulting work did seem interesting, and L.E.K. sounded like a good firm.

My Experience with The Posse Foundation

One of my favorite things about working at L.E.K. is our commitment to community involvement. As someone who actively participated in various organizations and community programs as an undergrad, I knew I wanted to work at a place that offered opportunities for community engagement, and L.E.K. has exceeded my expectations. In my ~2 years at the firm, I’ve had the opportunity to engage with no less than four different community organizations. One, in particular, The Posse Foundation, has been incredibly meaningful to me and has significantly influenced my experience at L.E.K.
